LD and his version of the ABCs

He can sing it pretty well, this was my best attempt at taping it :)

Boston Part I - Samuel Adams Brewery Tour

Our last full day in Boston we went on the Samuel Adams brewery tour. It was a lot of fun (and free, although we were encouraged to give a small donation... which was definitely worth it!). We learned a lot, each got a free glass and three samples of beer (let's be honest, Rob got six ;) ). The tour guide has quite the job. After giving each tour (approximately 45 minutes), he drinks along with the rest of us!

Personality?

Truth is... I finally had time to look at some pictures from the past couple of weeks, while on the plane ride to Boston last night, and realized what a ham Landon is! The funny thing is, I can completely see his personality in ALL of them :) My favorite is the first... it's so 'naughty and nice!'

Madisyn's Christmas Program

Before the program:

As they were lining up:

During the program:

The entire program she stood there (even when the rest of the kids were sitting) with her head down not singing a word! What do you do? I just had to laugh and hope for the best next year :)

What happens when a three year old dresses herself?

She comes up with some pretty interesting outfits... but I think this pajama ensemble topped them all :)

P.S. Why can't I get the kids to both smile normal at the same time?!

The reason for our hiatus

(work Christmas party... that I unfortunately had to miss!)

(cake that got neglected, decorations had to be thrown on right before our family Christmas party)

(1st birthday cake for an adorable little girl, Sophie)

(with cupcakes for the kids at the party :) )

Precious!

Landon loves to sit on Madisyn's lap and have her "read" him books. He's almost as big as her and she can hardly get her arms around him to hold onto the book. I just melt!

3 Year Old Honesty, Part II

"Mommy, you're my favorite girl in the whole wide world!"

Katie, you were right :)

3 Year Old Honesty

While I was getting ready the other day, Madisyn told me, "Mommy, your hair kind of looks like a dinosaur."

Not quite the look I was going for :)

The kiddos

The little stud posing

The big girl being her goofy self

Two decades!

My beautiful sister Rachelle turned two decades old yesterday :) I made this cake to celebrate the occasion with her friends. It was fun to make, especially because she didn't care what I did with it and she loves pink and brown nearly as much as I do! We love you Rachelle!

Landon's cupcakes

Landon gets to bring a treat to "school" tomorrow since he's one of the showcased students for this week. Since I've been on such a cake kick lately (side note: I'm in the process of making my sister's birthday cake, which I'm pretty excited about), I decided to try some fun cupcakes. No theme really, except that I was only working with green, pink and tan fondant (so not too colorful).

Halloween

Happy Belated Halloween! Our camera died after a couple of pictures, so here are the only ones I have of the kids. I was pleasantly surprised that Landon really got into trick-or-treating! We weren't even going to take him, but glad that we did because he had the time of his life following Madisyn and cousin Joshua.

*we're not even U of M fans... I just thought that having a cheerleader and a "football player" would be a cute idea :)

Updated with pictures from Dave and Kate (Rob's sister and brother-in-law).

Guilty...

Madisyn got our attention the other day after Landon had made this mess on the floor. All I know is that we're really in for it once he hits the "terrible two's!" He's already a little trouble maker!

Another Cake Adventure

This past weekend I decided to mix things up a little and attempted to make chocolate butter cream frosting. That gave me a good excuse to try a few other things... this time it was marble cake with a chocolate pudding filling, chocolate butter cream frosting and fondant decorations (decorations only, versus covering the entire cake as well). Luckily we had a small get-together Saturday night, so we didn't end up eating all of the cake (it was actually gone by the end of the night) :)

Oh, and the chocolate butter cream frosting was delicious!

We are a busy family of five! I enjoy time with my husband and kids, running, being outdoors, shopping for deals, and cuddling. My wonderful husband keeps busy playing with the kiddos, hunting, fishing, exercising and working on projects around the house. Madisyn is six, in 1st grade, loves being outdoors and isn't one bit afraid of bugs or worms! Landon is four, a spitting image of Daddy, and is the sweetest, naughtiest and funniest little boy, all in one! Tinley was born February 24, 2012 and has already blessed us beyond belief! Here's a glimpse into our crazy and wonderful lives... hope you enjoy!

Tiece of Cake

I've finally decided to make a blog (Tiece of cake) dedicated to cakes... as to not consume the family blog.
