All my marbles in one bag

Or two or three, depending on how you look at it :) Some of you know, many of you do not, that I have decided to officially be a SAHM, Household Manager (a coworker put it) or CEO of the Dykema Corporation (another coworker put it)... However you see it, I will no longer be spending my days working for Deloitte Consulting.

To not bog you down with the details, here's a brief synopsis of our decision making process:

* March - Went part-time hoping for the perfect work-life balance
* April/early May - feeling extraordinarily overwhelmed with my numerous responsibilities
* May 14 - stressed beyond belief, Rob and I talked to the wee hours in the morning and decided that it was the time to end my career (or better put, I finally broke down and he got a glimpse of all the stresses I had put upon myself)
* May 15 - I informed my boss, difficult... to say the least

Since then, I can't begin to tell you how this decision has already blessed me and our family! I feel like this enormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I am finally able to be the wife and mother that I've only imagined I could be (I've even started cooking... and love it!!!). As I've been so guilty of my whole life, I was doing more than I could handle, physically and emotionally! I've never been one to be satisfied with mediocrity, therefore, when I felt like I was doing a poor job at work, being a mom, being a wife and taking care of our house, something had to give.

I still can't mentally comprehend what my days are going to hold, what our life is going to be like, what benefits and challenges that it will pose. None-the-less, I am incredibly overjoyed and have an amazing sense of peace that this is where God wants us at this point in our lives.

My official last day of work will be July 2... Bring on the playdates (and advice on how to be a SAHM!) :)

I guess I need some more help learning how to leave a comment...anyway...see the comment on your previous post!!!!

No matter what a mom decides to do, work full time, part time, or stay at home full time, it just makes me happy for you to feel content and at peace that your choice is what is best for you. Obviously you have found that! I'm so thankful, but feel bad that you had been bottling up so much stress for so long! I know you put a lot of pressure on yourself, and that might not change overnight, but don't ever feel like you have to handle it all seemlessly on your own, which is impossible for anyone! :) Anyway, congratulations of this decision, and the weight it has lifted!

I hope this decision brings you the balance you are looking for! Days as a SAHM can still be stressful, but at least you won't have a boss or deadlines breathing down your neack and you can wear sweatpants whenever you want :) We are available for playdates...can't wait!

Here is my SAHM advice...set up a cleaning schedule, other wise you will spend your life cleaning. LOL. I make it known to my family that I only do laundry on Mondays, bathrooms on tuesdays, kitchen on wednesday, basement on thrusday, and vaccuum the living room and bedrooms every night. I started doing this a year again, and I love much less stress!! The kids can't wait to have more playdates!!!! I'm so excited for you Tiece!

Tiece! I am so excited for you - mostly because this means that when I'm a SAHM too in a few days we can hang out and do SAHM things together! Hooray!

You are awesome Tiece. You've worked incredibly hard and I am excited that you have peace about your decision!

I am so happy that you feel less stressed. As someone who has also worked, fulltime, part-time and not all all, I do wish you the best in your transition. Enjoy!

Congratulations on your new "job" as a future SAHM. You are very fortunate to be able to do this. Being a mom is a full-time job in itself! Have fun with the kiddos!

We are a busy family of five! I enjoy time with my husband and kids, running, being outdoors, shopping for deals, and cuddling. My wonderful husband keeps busy playing with the kiddos, hunting, fishing, exercising and working on projects around the house. Madisyn is six, in 1st grade, loves being outdoors and isn't one bit afraid of bugs or worms! Landon is four, a spitting image of Daddy, and is the sweetest, naughtiest and funniest little boy, all in one! Tinley was born February 24, 2012 and has already blessed us beyond belief! Here's a glimpse into our crazy and wonderful lives... hope you enjoy!

Tiece of Cake

I've finally decided to make a blog (Tiece of cake) dedicated to cakes... as to not consume the family blog.
